Munich (Franz Josef Strauss ) International Airport Info: Located approximately 38 Km Northeast of Munich City Centre . It is Germany’s second busiest airport. After 52 years operations ended at Munich Riem in the night of May 16th to 17th 1992 a total of 1600 trucks and other special vehicles transported the Airport’s inventory and other equipment to the new airport location at Munich Franz Josef Strauss International Airport. The last aircraft to depart from Munich Riem is a Lufthansa Boeing 737 which takes off at around 23:45 later beacons are switched off and said goodbye to Riem and Welcome to new airport. Arrival hall Facilities : There are two passenger terminals: terminal 1 & terminal 2. Terminal 1 hosts mainly other airlines and Terminal 2 is for mainly Lufthansa and Star Alliance aircrafts.

Coming out into the Arrivals hall, you will find your chauffeur waiting for you with your name board , if you are looking for car rental you will soon reach the Central area of the airport. Public transportation, Bus stop and a Taxi stand just outside of the Arrivals hall. Toilets are located lower floor of the arrival hall.

Terminal 1 Arrival and Departure halls are located side by side in the same building, Terminal 2 arrivals are on the ground floor, and departures are up on the first floor. Bother terminals have ATM machines, cash dispensers.

Delay in Arrival: if you book a Transfer you need not worry about your transfer, Imagine that you are in “SAFE HANDS” because your chauffeur or your transfer company will monitor your flight arrival time, accordingly your driver will be waiting for you with your name board at the Meet and Greet area.

Departure Hall : Departure hall at Terminal 2 automatic pre check-in machines are available, Terminal 1 depends on your airline, at the check-in desk better to be earlier there to avoid queueing.

Delay in Departure : After check-in you can pass the time at Airliner’s Lounge using privilege cards and frequent flyer cards, some of the lounges are accepting Credit cards like Diners Club etc. You will also have a possibility of using WiFi internet access at the passenger terminals. Of course there are many shops to pass on the time.

Duty Free Shop: Huge collection of Travel Value and Duty Free shops are available at Munich Airport.

Car Parking Facilities: There are several options of parking areas available at Munich Airport including open air and garage short and long term parking facilities. Advance online booking is much cheaper ,there are also private parking areas near the airport also at reasonable price including cost free shuttle service for pick up and drop off shuttles in both directions.

Wheelchair Facilities: Munich airport lends out wheelchairs free of charge, you just need to inform at information desk in Departures hall.

Lost and Found Facilities: The Lost and Found service counter located at Munich Airport Centre in Terminal 1 Level 03. There is a form to fill out.
