This valley is called Eisacktal in German, it is a German speaking area. It is in the northwest corner of the Dolomites, south from Innsbruck, north from Verona and Venice. The main town is Bressanone (Brixen) with a population of 20 000 lies at the point where the river Rienza joins the Isarco. Historic buildings include the Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace and several castles.
