The village is south east from Salzburg, just west of Saalfelden, a town with good shopping options. Leogang is on the little river Leogangeracheflowing from west to east joining the Saalach near Saalfelden. From the village to the south are the north facing slopes of the Asitz, to the north are spectacular views of the Birnhorn (2634m) of the Leoganger Steinberge range.

Winter Activity in Leogang
In addition the the little drag lifts in the valley, the choice of the Asitzbahn or the Steinbergbahn meet at 1760m, both modern gondolas. By the top stations is the AlteSchmied restaurant, very busy, but very good. The high point in Leogang is the Grosser Asitz peak(1910), from which begins the return towards Leogang, and the start into the rest of the Ski Circus, the valley of Saalbach – Hinterglemm. For a little insider tip, the route from Grosser Asitz down to Viehhofen is not much used, with the cozy Hecherhutte on the way down. Often the best snow in the Ski Circus is at the top part of Leogang.
