Hinterglemm Info
Hinterglemm merged with neighouring Saalbach in 1987, hence is usually known as Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Both villages are on the river Saalach in its upper reaches flowing down the Saalach valley from west to the east before heading north to Saalfelden and on towards Salzburg. The Alpine Ski World Championships were held here in 1991. In combination with the village of Leogang(790m) the ski areas of Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Leogang operate as the Ski Circus, giving a large area with a great selection of slopes.

Winter Activity in Hinterglemm
Using both the north side(south facing) and the south side(north facing) the peaks and ridges are typically at 2000m, the south side has the steeper slopers and catches less sun. At the east end of the north side is the Grosser Asitz peak(1910), from which begins the descent towards Leogang, down to 790m.
Night skiing, fun park and speed test tracks are available.

There is a choice of ski schools and beginners areas with practice lifts. Toboggan, winter hiking and cross country ski trails are also prepared.
Connections: along the valley from Lengau and Kolling at the west (upper) end through Hinterglemm and Saalbach down to Vorderglemm and Viehhofen at the east end there are shuttle bus connections, also out the valley to Saalfelden. Road connections would give access to Maria Alm of the Hochkoenig Winterreich and to Zell am See.
