This medieval town with church ties, convent, monastary and dominant castle, lies south from Innsbruck, north from Verona or Venice, in the east of South Tyrol. It is the largest town in the Puster Valley. Here, due to its history, the main language is German rather than Italian or Ladin. It is called Brunico in Italian.
