Bad Gastein is to the south from Salzburg City in the Gastein valley – famous year round for hills and hot springs it has a great terrain for the Winter Sports lovers, with the bases: Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein, Dorfgastein and Angertal, and for wild mountain Sport Gastein. Gastein is one of the 5 parts of Ski Amade.The “Bad” of its name indicates it is renowned for Spa facilities.The town itself in the centre has some very attractive buildings, though some are derelict, and there is a nice waterfall to see. At the Stubnerkogel top station there is a suspension bridge and the “Glocknerblick” Panorama viewing platform

Winter Activity in Bad Gastein
The skiing on the west side of the town, the mountain is the Stubnerkogel (2250m).
It has 2 long blues, lots of reds and a nice steep black, and that’s just on the Stubnerkogel, between Bad Gastein and Angertal. There is a snow park near the Stubneralm. It’s easy to make your way from Stubnerkogel via Angertal (1175m) to the mountain of Bad Hofgastein, the Schlossalm, giving a lot more options, blues and reds but no blacks. The high point is the HoheScharte at 2300m.
On the east side of town there is also the Graukogel (2000m) with a blue, 2 reds & a black. There are also connection by road to Sport Gastein with a gondola and a drag lift slopes from 2650m down 1580m. Ski schools are available with beginners areas, especially good for beginners is Angertal.
