To the north east from Innbruck between the Schatzberg 1903m and the Wiedersberger Horn 2128m mountains, runs the river Alpbach, giving its name to the village and the valley. Where the river Alpbach joins the river Inn is the town Kramsach at 519m, a little upstream comes the village Reith 703m, further upstream is Alpbach 975m, and further up is the Inneralpbach 1050m. Alpbach village is famous for its traditional architecture due to the late arrival of a road connection (1926). It has won awards for clean air, beautiful village and European unity. With the increase and improvements of modern lifts systems and some road connections is has links with neighbouring areas, forming the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschoenau.
