Turracher Höhe Info
Turracher Höhe is a mountain pass, with a Turrach lake, a village and the surrounding area. It is right on the divide between the Austrian states of Styria and Carinthia. To the far west from Graz, north west from Klagenfurt and south east from Salzburg tucked into the Nock range of the Gurktal Alpes. Due to its remoteness, it’s been a late developer, late to be reached by paved roads and other such modernities. Nowadays for tourism it is well developed. The pass is between the 2334m Rinsennock above the 2193m Kornock on the west side. On the east side are the 1875 Solleneck and the 2208m Schoberriegel beneath the 2232m Gruft amoungst other ridges and peaks. Beneath there is not only the lake Turrachsee but also the Schwarzsee and the Grunsee.

Winter Activity in Turracher Höhe
The village and its lake form the centre of the ski resort with the east side being the lower part, the west side being the higher part, giving descents from 2200m down to 1400m, including a world cup race track.

Ski schools, beginners areas, toboggan, cross country ski, night ski and ice rink are available, the fun park is the Snowpark Turracher Höhe, there is also a “Funslope” for fun with less adrenalin. There is also all the year round the Nocky Flitzer toboggan ride.
Connections: as there are several bases for setting off up the mountain, it is also possible to link from one part to another with lift and ski slope. There is also a local skibus service. Although it seems to be far away up in the remote mountains, it is only 42km away from Murau, and a part of the grouping of 8 Mur valley ski areas – Murtal-Skipass, also linked to the Styria Joker (Steirermark Joker) and the Top Skipass Carinthia, Kärntner Skipass.
