The lake Millstattersee is in the middle of Carinthia on the way between Salzburg and Klagenfurt in the Nock mountains of the Gurktal Alps. Spittal an der Drau(river Drau or Drava) is at the foot of the 2142m Mount Goldeck on the west side of the Millstattersee.

Winter Activity in Spittal an der Drau
Beside Mount Goldeck is the 2130m Mount Seetalnock. The day begins with the Talbahn Goldeck 8-seater gondola to a mid mountain point at 1780m. From there using either the Goldeckbahn cable car or the two chairlifts, there are red and blue slopes down from 2100m. On the west side the Eggeralm draglift gives access to a blue, the Funpark and a marked off piste route. There are some other practice lifts near the top station of the Talbahn Goldeck and near the middle station of the Goldeckbahn cable car.
The day ends with a descent using the Talbahn Goldeck gondola to the bottom station to avoid the black slope descent that is 8.5km long, all the way to the 547m bottom station. The lower section of the Goldeckbahn cable car is only used in summer.
