To the east from Innsbruck, it is on the way from Salzburg to Kitzbuhel right beneath the Kitzbuhelerhorn 2000m and by the Kitzbuheler Alps and the Wilder Kaiser mountain range, the last stop before Kitzbuhel. Named after St. John the Evangelist since the 8th century, in the 16th century copper and silver mines were important, providing the wealth for the baroque touch. Nowadays the main business is tourism.
