Pitztal Info
To the west from Innsbruck, Pitztal is the valley of the river Pitze, feeding into the Inn at its north end near Imst. The main settlements are Arzl, Wenns, Jerzens and St Leonhard. Above Jerzens is the 2560m peak of the Hochzeiger. At the head of the valley, where the road peters out is Mittelberg. From Mittelberg at 1740m is the underground funicular train running south up onto the Pitztal glacier, surrounded by peaks between 3200m to 3774m, giving Tyrol’s highest glacier sliing. Above Mittelberg on the west side is the lake Riffelsee at 2200m.

Winter Activity in Pitztal
There are 3 parts to the winter sports story. At the higher or south end of the valley there is the Riffelsee and the Pitztal glacier. At the north or lower end of the valley is the Hochzeiger resort above Jerzens.
