Kleinwalsertal Info

This valley (tal) is the lesser or small (Klein) , rather than the greater or larger (Grosses)Walsertal found to the south in middle Vorarlberg. It winds north east following the river Breitach in the northeast corner of Vorarlberg. It is a part of Austria, but only accessible from Germany to the north via the village of Oberstdorf in Allgau, Bavaria, due to the surrounding mountains. It has the villages of Baad, Mittelberg, Hirschegg and Riezlern. The valley is famous in Central Europe as a ski and hiking resort, with nearby peaks between 2000m and 2500m. It is strong in some traditions such as the folk music of the Trachtenkapelle and the Alpinehorn, and for cuisine especially game, beef and dairy produce.
