This valley (tal) is the greater or larger (grosses), rather than the lesser or smaller Kleines Walsertal to the north. It winds south and west from the Faschina pass with its river the Lutz, including several villages Faschina, Sonntag, Blons, Raggal and Thuringerberg, Thuringen and Ludesch. It is listed as a Unesco Biosphere Reserve, and paricularly renouned for its cheeses. It is quite central in Vorarlberg so not near anywhere but not so far from anywhere: Tyrol, Bavaria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and its state capital of Bregenz.
