In the geographical middle of Vorarlberg southeast from Bregenz on the Bregenzerach river is the small town of Mellau, due south from Mellau more tucked away in the hills is the tiny village of Damuls on the river Krumbach, which feeds into the Bregenzerach.
This area is by the Grosses Walsertal Unesco Biosphere Reserve, and paricularly renouned for its cheeses. Damüls claim to fame is it holds the record of the municipality with the most annual snowfall in Europe – the average is 9.30 meters per year.

Sonnenkopf is the resort above Dalaas, Wald, Danofen and Klosterle on the south side of the valley with descents from 2300m down to1000m
The start point is in Danofen just beside Wald with an 8-seater gondola reaching 1840m to connect with the many draglifts and chairlifts. Whichever colour grade the slope there are some good long slopes. The upper eastern reaches give more red slopes, the lower western reaches more blue slopes, and the black slope streaks across the middle.
